The measured initial and final sample masses via an analytical scale are provided in Table 3 along with the computed mass of CO evolved from the sample.
Thermogravimetry showed 50 % mass loss that coincided with CO, indicative of carbothermal reduction. Mass loss continued to occur after CO evolution, which was indicative of volatiles, such as SiO(g),
